Bernard Puckett, Chairman
Bernard Puckett serves as Chairman of the Board of Frequentz. He received his B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Mississippi. Mr. Puckett was formerly the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mobile Telecommunications Technology Corp. (“Mtel”). Prior to joining Mtel, Mr. Puckett spent 26 years with IBM where he was Senior Vice President – Corporate Strategy and Development. He also held positions in marketing, finance, product development, manufacturing and new business development during his tenure at IBM. Recently, Mr. Puckett served as Chairman of the Board of Openwave Systems, Inc., a leading provider of open IP-based communication infrastructure software and applications. He has also served on the board of directors of IMS Health, and currently sits on the board and serves as Independent Director at Skilled Healthcare Group, Inc.
Robert S. Bucklin
Robert S. Bucklin is a financial executive with extensive experience across the entire Food, Beverage and Agribusiness complex. Mr. Bucklin holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. During his extensive 40+ year career in banking, Mr. Bucklin has held key executive leadership positions at The First National Bank of Chicago, ACB International, First City Dallas, and most recently, Rabobank International, the 26th largest bank in the world. In addition to his seat on the Board of Directors at Frequentz, Mr. Bucklin also serves as Chairman of the Board and Member of the Executive Committee of Global Green USA, an NGO focused on the environment and sustainability.
Andrew Rosen is the founder and Managing Partner of Kainos Capital, a private investment firm focused on the food and consumer products sectors. Mr. Rosen received a B.A. in History, from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business. During his 20+ year career, Mr. Rosen has overseen the investment of over $2 billion of equity in more than 40 transactions in the food and consumer sectors with a total transaction value exceeding $7 billion. Some of the prior investments include International Home Foods (which was acquired by ConAgra Foods), Pinnacle Foods and Earthbound Farm, which was recently sold to WhiteWave Foods. Mr. Rosen currently serves as Chairman and director of Milk Specialties Global, the largest manufacturer of whey protein concentrates and isolates in North America, as well as a director of InterHealth Nutraceuticals, a leading provider of specialty health and wellness ingredients. In addition to serving on the Frequentz Board of Directors, Mr. Rosen also serves on the boards of Slim Fast, Healthy Natural Solutions and JTM Foods.
David M. Thomas is recognized as one of the leading executives in the information technology and services business. He holds an M.S. in Engineering and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Florida. Mr. Thomas served as Chairman and CEO of IMS Health, the global leader in information and consulting solutions for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Prior to IMS, Mr. Thomas was a Senior Vice President and Group Executive at IBM and a member of IBM’s Corporate Executive Committee, which oversees all worldwide business operations. Mr. Thomas currently serves as Chairman of Fortune Brands Home and Security Board of Directors, a Fortune 300 company with brands such as Moen, Masterbrand Cabinets, and Masterlock. He is also a presiding director of the Board of Directors of Interpublic Group, one of the largest holding companies of advertising agencies and communication services. In addition he is a member of the Fidelity Investments Board of Trustees. In 2013, he was elected to the University of Florida Board of Trustees.
Charlie Sweat is an alumnus of the Stanford University School of Business (SEP) and a former Alumni Board of Directors. Prior to Frequentz, Mr. Sweat served as CEO of Earthbound Farm. During his 15-year tenure with Earthbound Farm, Mr. Sweat was able to grow its business from $10 million to over $540 million in revenues. Early in 2014, he led and completed its sale to WhiteWave Foods, Inc. on behalf of its shareholders, including private equity firm Kainos Capital, for approximately $600 million. Mr. Sweat has been recognized as a Regional Winner and National Finalist in the 2011 Ernest and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. On top of his current role at Frequentz, he is a board member of two privately held companies, as well as Global Green USA, a non-profit organization.
Barry Uphoff is the Managing Principal and Founder of CHSO. He is also a Partner with Capricorn Investment Group. Over the past several years, Capricorn has spent considerable time and resources developing its interest and expertise in the food, farming and technology industries. Some of Capricorn’s global investments in food and farming include: Vitamin Water (U.S.), Loch Duart Salmon (U.K.), Suminter Organics (India) and Agrica (Tanzania). Prior to joining Capricorn, Barry has held positions at Silverpoint Capital as a senior investment professional, at Trivest where Barry was a Director leading the firm’s healthcare investing activities, and at Diamond Management Consultants, where as Founding Partner he led the firm’s global healthcare and strategy practices. Barry earned his BA from the Johns Hopkins University, Phi Beta Kappa. Barry read for a Diploma in Law and an MSc in Medicine at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. Barry also received an MBA from the University of Chicago.
